The Invisible Brick Wall
I’ve managed to hit that invisible brick wall called writer’s block. I’m stuck. I keep trying, but for some reason, the words aren’t coming out as easy as they were before. I feel like I’m failing, even though I do keep trying.
Every once in awhile, all the members of NaNo get encouraging messages from the home team. They’re not helping. They’re supposed to keep us writers going, find the way to weaving our little worlds, but no matter how hard I try, the vision in my head is stuck on pause.
I will continue to write, and with Thanksgiving coming up, I’ll have a couple extra days to play catch up. I’m also hoping that this little rant will get whatever it is off my chest, and get me back on the road to 50K.

There is nothing to get off your chest. There is no block… and there is NO invisible wall. Would I be wrong to assume that Marina is more less using you to illustrate the story that needs to be told? I don’t have any material to cross reference with, but in an earlier post you provided an excerpt that illustrated her death and how she was lead thru this tunnel of darkness with a small light at the end of it where she soon discovered it to be a very well lit room.
Perhaps where you are at now in the story line she needs to lead herself back to that same room for a different answer or truth. Something in that original room perhaps has a loop or a channel to the living.
I have no idea about your story, I can only work from a 400 word excerpt you provided earlier. However, to me… given what I can work with, I would say that that original room has some kind of power or pull that leads her back to it…
Either way… there is no block… there is no invisible wall… do your job and allow Marina to tell you what you need to write.
Best Regards,
Garry Conn
Take a break from the computer and just go for a walk or sit somewhere quiet and play the story in your mind and see if something comes to light.
You guys are so cool.
I did kind of work through my block last night. See, I’m at a point in my story where the “bad guy” is starting to get stronger, and that’s the part of the movie I always run to the bathroom during. LOLOLOL
My little rant did help.
I can’t wait to read this…. good luck and keep your chin up!
Eep! I missed this post when you wrote it. I wish I could have responded sooner!
Anyway, don’t be too concerned about the writer’s block. It happens to all of us, and whether you make the 50k words or not within the month, you should make sure you’re happy with your work. If you’re forcing the story out, you’ll more than likely end up not liking it.
Take a breather, maybe get out and just watch some scenery while your mind wanders. Don’t fret it if you do make the 50k, but remember that we’re all cheering you on regardless of how long your story turns out to be!
I’m sure your story will be good, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you’ll get through the writer’s block sooner rather than later.
Thanks you, honey. I needed that.
As a matter of fact, I did finally get past it and got some good work done last night. I am offically past the half way mark. I’m just a little of 25k right now. That’s still 9000 less than I should be, but that’s ok. I was very happy with what I did.
Thanks again, everyone.
