I broke the 10K mark
Just another update to let everyone know how I’m doing with my nano novel. I’ve reached the 10,000 word mark. I have less than 40,000 to go. LOL
It’s not easy trying to keep my mind in the story when I’m more worried about my word count, but I’m still going. And, in keeping up with everything, I’m going to paste an excerpt from the novel right here, right now. Ladies and gentlemen, a piece from my novel.
The Mask of Other Lives
By Christine Senter
The sound of silence and the feel of darkness surrounded Marina. She had no idea as to where she was or what was going on around her. She felt around for the button to call a nurse, but there was nothing there. Nothing under her, nothing above her, and nothing beside her. She was floating in a dark mass.
“Where am I”, she tried to scream. She thought she should be scared, but she wasn’t. To her, that seemed odd, but she wasn’t afraid. The only thing she felt was calmness. She thought her eyes were open, but all she saw was black. Then, ahead in the distance, she noticed a faint speck of white. She didn’t know why, but she knew she had to reach that speck. She focused on the spot and realized that it was growing bigger. Yet, she wasn’t sure if it was growing, or if she was just getting closer to it. She couldn’t feel herself moving, but she did feel slight breezes moving her hair.
The speck grew into a circle. That’s when she realized that she was traveling through a tunnel. That’s also when it dawned on her that she was dead. The thought ran through her head, but she still wasn’t afraid. She was aware that she needed to reach the whiteness in order to continue. But to what she was heading for, she had no idea. She focused her gaze even deeper, and within only a short time, she was at the entrance of the tunnel. She felt her feet touch the ground, and she walked into the white room.
To her amazement, she wasn’t where she thought she’d end up. She was expecting to be in a field of flowers or sitting on a cloud. Instead, she was in a bright room that looked like an office complex. There was a desk in the corner, filing cabinets lining the walls, and at the other side of the room was a hallway that seemed to have no end. She thought to herself, “Oh my god, I’m in hell and hell is a fricking cubicle”.

LOL, okay, that last line about the cubicle totally caught me off guard! I really like the writing style though…why did you deprive me of the other 9800 words?
Hahaha, cubicle…. that was funny!
Hi Christine,
I heard about your blog via BlogsWeLuv and GarryConn.
Awesome writing style! Keep it up.
Thanks Matt and John.
@ Matt–That’s why they call it an except, LOL. And just so you know, last night I my word count hit 13,707. Yippy skippy.
@ John–Thanks for stopping by and you’re welcome to come back any time.
Congratulations on your milestone, Christine! Keep it up!
Thanks hon,
I’ve gotten stalled a couple of times so far, but I just kept plugging away. I have to keep reminding myself that I can always edit later. Now, I just have to write. LOLOLOL
You can do it! We believe in you!
I am keeping my fingures crossed for ya, keep up the great work
Thanks boys. I really appreciate the boost of confidence. I need it. LOLOLOL
Wow.. you are good! That was awesome. I always knew you could write. But never really realized you could WRITE until I read that excerpt. Wow.. that was cool!
You have natural talent and you were born to do what you do. Some people go their entire life without even discovering what you have discovered over 20 years ago.
You are awesome, you are amazing, keep up the brilliant work!
Best Regards,
Garry Conn
Aww, Thanks Garry, (Your $20 is in the mail)
I’ve known I wanted to be a writer my whole life. When I was a little kid, I made up elaborate stories and acted them out in my bedroom. Then again, I was also the kid that asked mom to set a couple extra plates at the dinner table cause Archie and Jughead were coming to dinner. LOL
Thanks again honey.
Too many paint chips girl… way too many paint chips.
