I’m always trying to come up with new ways of getting my creative juices flowing. I’ve discussed a few of them on this blog, from word association, to various places to find inspiration. Today, I want to talk about free writing. What that is, is simply to write without thought. I’ve tried this in a variety of different ways, from writing myself a letter to typing no stop for a full 5 minutes without stopping to correct typos or even bothering to space some of the words. I just write until I begin to get an idea to write about.

I also found that leaving posts in forums helps with the free writing concept. As you go through your favorite forum, choose from any of the posts and leave a quality comment. As you work on creating your comments, add a little snap to them. Use the forum threads as a new idea in your writing, and before you know it, you’ve got a ton of ideas to write about.

I’ve been using this in a forum called TalkWhatever.com. I love this forum, and have even been given my own room to lead. I am now the forum leader for the Writer’s Block room at TalkWhatever.com. I’m very happy about that, as I can lead a whole new brigade of writers into the world on online writing. Plus, I can come up with all kinds of new fodder for this blog as well. It’s a win-win situation for me.

There is no right or wrong way to get your writing inspiration. It all comes down to what makes you feel and what gives you the inspiration to put words to paper/computer screen. As long as you come up with ideas, you’re doing it right.
