1st NaNo Update

Well, I’m well under way for this year’s NaNo competition.  In the first 4 days, I’ve written 7,110 words.  If I can keep it up, I’ll be at my 50,000 goal before the end of the month.  I’m really going to try to make it to the end this year.

Anyway, I’ve also retitled my book.  I was going to call it “My Life After My Death”, and have the story set in a first-person tone, but that didn’t work out so well.  So, I’ve changed the story from being seen through my eyes, to being seen through the eyes of my main character, Marina Hammond.

The new title of my book is, “The Mask of Other Lives”.  It fits better anyway.  If things work out, I may even try to have this one published, but I’m not going to get to ahead of myself here.  I still have almost 43,000 words to go.

That’s all I have for now.  I’m only really starting to get into the main part of the story, so as the days continue, I’ll keep you updated on my progress.  I may be needing some encouraging words in the near future.

  1. Glad to hear how well it’s coming along! I know have trouble writing a few pages (1000-ish words) at times, so to be able to write as much as you have (and are going to) is really a feat! I hope you’ll be publishing the results, whether available for free or as a published book. I’ll be your first customer. :)

  2. aaaawwwww, thanks honey. Of course, now that means I have to actually try and make it worth reading. LOL

Joking. I don’t know what I’m going to do just yet. I have a site where I can go in and publish it myself either in print or as an ebook. Depends on how happy I am with it when I’m done. If I think it’s ok, I might just go ahead and publish it. If I think it sucks, it will sit on my computer with the others I’ve written. LOL

  3. Congratulations on your achievement. Writing over 4000 word quality text is quite a success. I am sure you will make it to your goal as I see that you like writing. I spotted you as a good, quality commentator at Garry Conn’s blog.

  4. Thanks Melody.

I just hope that by the end of the month when I see that 50,000 mark on the horizon, I don’t look back at my novel and realize I’ve written a complete work of ick.
